Designer – Childrens Wear & Interior – Temporary position

Garbo&Friends is looking for a creative and structured designer who is passionate about design and sustainability. This is a temporary position for a 1 year maternity leave .

We have since spring 2023 created childrens wear collections, starting small and expanding every season to new styles and added qualities at the same time as developing and fine tuning our voice in the children’s wear area. Our designer is going on maternity leave for 1 year so we are now looking for a designer for children’s wear and interiors that will take on this job during that time. As a designer at Garbo&Friends you will work in collaboration with mainly the Creative Director and purchasing team, always with the customer in mind in order to maximize growth and profitability, but with focus on creativity, quality and development.

Some of your tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Inspiration research, trends, and ideas for new collections.
• Plan, develop and design the assortments and products together with our Creative Director
• Start-up of possible new product groups/developments
• Create a product range based on visual goals created together with Creative Director
• Arrange fitting sessions and drive all design related tasks for sample handling
• Work with print designer for new prints
• Select and comment on colors for prints/ products
• Create and update overviews, flat- and detail sketches
• Travel to trade shows or to visit suppliers if required.
• Constantly follow sales and act on new tendencies as well as search for new products or styles that we should add to our assortment.
• Ensure compliance on products that requires design to be in accordance with regulations.

Your profile

• BA in fashion and/or textile design
• 3+ years Working experience as a Designer within the commercial fashion business
• Knowledge in design and product development
• You have proven ability to create functional and commercial designs, as well as a profound knowledge of garment construction, patterns, and textiles.
• Fashion intelligence, driven by trend analysis to be able to predict what your customers will demand in a year from now; a genuine interest in fashion and trends
• Business sense and Salesmanship
• You are used to and have a strong track record of delivering according to planned schedules and milestones in time.
• A driven self-motivator who sees only possibilities
• You are collaborative and comfortable with working in a team-based work structure.
• Eager to learn and develop both yourself and the people you work with regardless of seniority.
• Structured and organised
• Strong communication skills and a positive can-do attitude
• Expert knowledge in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Excel
• Fluent in English, both verbal and written
• Previous experience of designing children’s wear is meriting.
• Previous knowledge/ experience of pattern making and grading is meriting.
