Outi Savolainen

I´m  a Finnish glass artist  Outi Savolainen.
I graduated from
Pohjois-Savon University of Applied Sciences,
with a Ceramic Designer Degree,
and from Häme University of Applied Sciences
with an Industrial Designer Degree.
I have also studied glass design.

In my glass works, I bring out the inconspicuous property of window glass, its flexibility.

I cut the window glass panes into thin slices and uv-glue them together. The work made in this way bends easily. Flexibility changes from being invisible to being
visible.

I direct the viewer’s attention to the glass itself. Not only is glass flexible, but its cross-cut edge
sparkles like a crystal chandelier in sea green.

In 2025 we will collaborate with the visual artist Katriina Kaija, combining glass and video art.
