Artists O was founded in 2006 by Finnish professional artists working in the field of applied arts. Our mission is to improve the working conditions of our member artists by organizing professional events, exhibitions and other member activities.

The society functions through the Ornamo Art and Design Finland.

Ceramics

Wild Clay

Wild art – Kaolin of Kainuu is a group exhibition of contemporary ceramics, where artists have used wild clay, i.e. unprocessed natural clay, in their works, each in their own way. The large group exhibition presents a wide range of ways to utilize Finnish clay as an art material.

Glass Art

A celebration of glass across three locations – Journey through Finland’s most renowned glassmaking regions.

Riihimäki – Home to the Finnish glass museum, this town has been the centre for Finnish glassmaking since the early 20th century.

Iittala – One of Finland’s most internationally recognised design brands, Iittala is not only a name but also an actual village. The Iittala Glass Village, about an hour from Helsinki, houses the legendary Iittala Glass Factory, where visitors can experience guided tours, live glassblowing, and design exhibitions.

Nuutajärvi – The birthplace of Finland’s oldest glassworks, dating back to 1793, Nuutajärvi remains an important creative hub for contemporary glass artists.

Jewellery Art

The Finnish Jewellery Art Association (Korutaideyhdistys ry in Finnish) is a professional membership-based organisation for contemporary jewellery artists in Finland. The association operates both nationally and internationally, organising exhibitions, training, lectures, discussions and maintaining a jewellery art collection. The main events are the international jewellery art triennial KORU, since 2003, and the annual art sales at the Cable Factory in Helsinki, Finland. Together with the South Karelian Artists’ Association, manages the gallery space at the Art Centre East in Lappeenranta, Finland.

Fiskars Village

Studio Ceramics Museum and Gallery

ONOMA – Cooperative of Artists, Designers and Artisans is located in the historical ironworks of Fiskars village in Raseborg. Members represent dozens of different fields of design, arts and crafts, and more than 10 nationalities. The cooperative members work with various materials and media including visual arts, wood, ceramic, glass, metals and textiles, as well as design and production or immaterial arts writing, composing, dancing or puppeteering.

This creative community implements the principles of sustainable development, living in harmony with the surrounding nature, its significant industrial history, and modern technological innovations.

High quality, curated and international summer exhibitions are the most prominent annual events in Fiskars village.

 Fiskars AiR is an international artist residency that has operated under Onoma for nearly 20 years.

Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale produced since 2019 together with its founder Luovi Productions.

Textile Artists

The Finnish Association of Textile Artists TEXO is a professional organization for textile artists and designers, established in 1956. TEXO has over 200 members working in the fields of art, design, craft, education, trade, and communication. It serves as a link between its members, the domestic textile industry, and international networks of designers.

TEXO’s goal is to promote Finnish textile art & design and to enhance professional cooperation among textile artists across the arts, design, trade, and education sectors. The association aims to create new opportunities and platforms for its members to present their work. TEXO is an active participant in Nordic Textile Art (NTA) and a member of the European Textile Network (ETN) and the World Crafts Council Europe.
