We are looking for a creative and driven
DESIGNER (Home Products)
to join our Home Design Team at Marimekko´s HQ in Helsinki.
In this role you have a central role in the Home Collection building to working and supporting both hard materials and textile design process. To succeed in this position you need to have an extensive experience in hard goods and home product design all in all. You have a good sense of colors, shapes, and materials. It’s an advantage if you also have a strong knowledge of printed fabrics, printed textile ready made products (cmt) and good product technical skills. You are not afraid to take responsibility and are eager to contribute to Marimekko´s bright future. You work closely with other designers, our Artwork studio, Merchandising and Sourcing teams, PD team as well as the Sampling studio in our printing mill.
This is a full-time fixed-term position lasting around 6 months in which you report to Marimekko´s Design Director, Home & Print Design.
Your main areas of responsibilities include:
- Hard materials design process (eg. ceramics, glass, wood, metal)
- Printed fabrics design process and printed textiles readymade product design and PD
- Creation of design packages containing technical specifications
- Coloring prints
- Commenting prototypes
- Coordinating different collection related issues and shared responsible of creation of collection overviews
In order to succeed in the role, you have:
- A degree in Design (MA)
- Previous strong design experience min. 2 years
- Excellent IT skills, especially Photoshop / Illustrator / InDesign
- Familiarity with 3D modeling tools is considered a plus, but is not required
- In-depth understanding of hard goods, home product design and collection work
- Understanding of printed textiles and textile products
- An exceptional eye for form, colors, prints & quality
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent team work skills
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in English, both verbal and written, and Finnish is an advantage
