Overview

As a UX Researcher in the Garmin Jyväskylä R&D team, you will drive research for health, fitness, and performance features. You will identify user needs, analyze market trends, and translate insights into actionable recommendations that shape product concepts and experiences. Working at the intersection of business, UX design, physiology, data science, and engineering, you will plan and conduct research and deliver insights that inform decisions and drive user-centered outcomes across projects.

This is a permanent, full-time, office-based position in Jyväskylä, Finland. You will be part of a highly talented, passionate, and forward-thinking group of people who are driven to help Garmin customers live healthier lives and improve their fitness and sports performance every day.

Day to day responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct research to understand user needs, behaviors, and motivations
  • Apply a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods, including interviews, workshops, concept testing, surveys, and ethnographic studies
  • Identify unmet user needs and help framing complex problems
  • Translate research findings into clear and actionable insights, opportunities, and design implications
  • Communicate the insights through compelling storytelling, frameworks, and visualizations
  • Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and technical teams throughout the new product discovery and development process
  • Participate in co-creation sessions, workshops, and discovery activities with stakeholders and users
  • Advocate for a human-centered mindset across teams and decision-making processes
  • Contribute to improving research practices, tools, and repositories

What we look for in a candidate

  • 3+ years of proven experience in design research, UX research, or a related field, working with real users.
  • Strong foundation in human-centered research and design thinking methodologies 
  • Familiarity with innovation frameworks and problem-framing techniques 
  • Ability to synthesize insights into actionable design directions 
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and storytelling skills 
  • Proficiency with modern research tools and openness to integrating AI tools into everyday work practices
  • Experience working in cross-functional product teams 
  • Comfort working in ambiguous or early-stage problem spaces 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English 

We also value

  • A background in psychology, behavioral science, or neuropsychology, along with knowledge of health and/or sport sciences, and an interest in applying these scientific insights to product concepts and user experiences 
  • Experience facilitating workshops and co-creation sessions
